My biggest Dutch hero is called Geert den Ouden. I know that most of my Dutch friends are laughing when they read that. Geert den Ouden has played for Excelsior, Roosendaal, ADO den Haag, Willem II and de Graafschap in Holland without being successful anywhere. Djurgårdens IF was reining champions in 2003, but during the summer our best attacker Johan Elmander’s loan from Feyenoord ended. The solution was to recruit a tall Dutchman who was unknown to everyone. What happened? We won our tenth (out of eleven) league title; Geert den Ouden scored ten goals. Allsvenskan will never again see a finisher like him.
